rockin to a computer beat

OK i posted this article seeing as it combines many famous musicians wjo are gods to me and it involves technology so thats a plus. web site

Rockin' to a digital beat

Austin, Texas - When the three founding members of the 1960s rock group Cream take the stage during a May reunion at London's Royal Albert Hall, veteran recording guru Elliot Scheiner will be there, and so will Advanced Micro Devices Inc.

Scheiner's backstage presence will be no surprise. He has recorded many of the top rock groups for decades. But this time, he will be using a high-end audio workstation powered by two AMD 64-bit processors, along with a trunkload of related audio and computer gear.

AMD, best known for its PC chips, is making some headway in the recording industry.

Guitarist Mark Knopfler, the former leader of Dire Straits, has a similar AMD recording unit with him on his ongoing world tour. Peter Frampton has one on order.

Computer technology continues to make inroads into the analog world of music. At the consumer level, sales of digital MP3 music players such as Apple's iPod are booming. And in the business of recording music, both garage band performers and veteran record producers are at least experimenting with digital technology.

AMD and Apple are two of the more aggressive companies pursuing the music business. AMD has courted leading players in the music and film world and is trying to create an aura of coolness around its products.

Well that took a turn in the end but still over all it seems pretty cool so I hope you enjoyed the article.
